The technological explosion of the fifties promised us the houses, cars, and lives of the future. Somewhere along the way we gave up.

I have been thinking about housing developments of the future in terms of permaculture and the automation that we could be taking advantage of now. A quick Google search for automated waste removal, for example, showed me that back there in the 60s when these ideas were hot and still something to strive for, people were actually making good on those promises. Just not here in the US.

Check out Envac’s stationary vacuum systems and how bringing us closer to an easier life has been there all along. We were just too busy maintaining the status quo.
